About Sea Grant

The Florida Sea Grant extension program was established as a component of the Florida Cooperative Extension Service in 1972.  The program was designed to promote the wise use of marine and estuarine resources in coastal counties.  Marine extension agents, along with extension specialists and campus coordinators in 30 colleges around the state, work to establish research and educational programs in areas of concern to coastal residents.  Sea Grant is not a regulatory agency; its role is educational or informational only. More information...
